Pain Free Mesh Removal?

This morning I received a note from a woman who is very much concerned for other women’s continued health after mesh removal, but she is not strong enough to inform women of the pitfalls of believing in doctors who promise a quick fix. Right now she is at last where she needs to be to get the help she has needed for a long time after many broken promises by doctors in the medical profession whom she trusted when they promised her a quick fix. UCLA is now her last place of hope. She has waited a long time and her condition has worsened after repeated surgeries that left her far worse, not better. She wants all women to know, please do not believe promises that cannot be kept and there is no such thing as pain free mesh removal with the catheter out the next day.

This woman has been going through tests before her surgery next week and she has barely made it through them because of so much pain. She knows what she is talking about believe me and she understands how it is to want to stay close to home or get surgery done sooner than waiting many months or paying out money to travel far from home. But she wants to warn you that you may pay a high penalty later and if you make that choice. She wants you to make an informed choice just in case things do not work out for you if you choose to see any doctor who makes these promises. This is why I am posting this blog today.

This is part of the note that she just sent to me. “Testing showed my problems are worse. Dr. Raz gave me pics where mesh has eroded into 2 sides of uretha and in muscle. Mesh eroded on posterior wall by bowel. Mesh arms on sling still there on bone. Anchors are there. Mesh is sticking out poking me inside my vagina. I’ve complained of this for awhile basically because of bleeding. I was just sewed up and not finished!!! (this in reference to the last surgery she had) He was so kind and gentle. He promised he would help me. He promised he would not abandon me. Silent tears rolling down my face. Help at last.” She also stated. “I’ve never heard of pain free surgery. It saddens me because I’ve already been butchered and would hate for someone to have that experience.”

Please understand that right now I am trying to work on my own situation and if you have followed this blog you know I have been through a great deal. Therefore I am not in the mood to take things on nor be challenged by anyone. However, she is very upset that women will wind up just like her and doesn’t know how to stop the avalanche of women who will be devastated by surgeries that do not fix them, so I am passing on her fears. You can do as you wish of course but at least I passed on her warning and that should give her peace of mind.

Please work directly with these respected national organizations that have already begun advocating for patients harmed by failed implanted surgical mesh:

Consumers Union (Safe Patient Project) Lisa McGiffert-Senior Policy Analyst, National Research Center for Women and Families – Diana Zuckerman, National Women

I’m sorry, but these organizations are promoting women’s health and trying to get better oversight from the FDA. Good for them! They are useless to a woman who needs questions answered once she’s mesh injured

I wish some of these women’s organizations would raise funds to help the many women injured by these products. There are so many who struggle to find the money to travel, even when they do have insurance.

Thank you Linda for passing on this warning!
I have talked or emailed over 75 women that need mesh removal.
The story is the same…they believe their doctors, they insist on having repeated partials, so they can be by a doctor that is close to home.
They end up suicidal and in more pain!
I highly recommend UCLA. They do mesh all day, everyday, with no complaints.
Mesh is not a simple appendix removal! It was never meant to be taken out. So ask your doctor how many they have removed, and whether it will be a full or a partial removal. Dr. Raz has done over 500; my doctor had done 12. My second doctor could not even find the mesh, because only ucla does the translabial ultrasound, that can see where the mesh is. I am fully healed now by Dr. Larissa Rodriguez at ucla a year ago. Spend the money, go out of state,,,it is your life at stake…you can not put a price on your life!

Thank you, Linda, for being willing to post the truth. Truth is very often not a pretty picture especially when it concerns mesh, but knowing the truth helps or should help people make more informed decisions that will affect their lives.

Praying for your healing everyday. (((hugs)))

Nancy, the truth shall set you free if you allow it to. However, then you have to face it down and then work out how to get the help you really need. It is not easy as we all know.

I am scheduled to see Dr. Raz Jan.21 2014
I have so much mesh my mesh is AMS and I had a rectocele and cystocele
Mini arc sling under my urethra. I have tons of questions I live in Huntsville, al.
I was wondering if anyone knew if Dr. Raz could or would take all of
That out in one surgery or if that was too much to take out at one
time ? If he couldn’t how many surgeries do you think it will take?
I cannot sleep at night for worrying about the answers to these questions. I know there is no way to know for sure until I see him. But any info would be greatly
Appreciated. I have had my mesh since 2010 have 8 anchors also my tissues were healthy come to find out my specialist in Nashville, TN. said I never even needed these surgeries:( he took a small amount out and released the tension
Advised me that he tried to get one anchor out and would take such deep
Dissection it was too dangerous. Also for me not to have anymore surgeries unless I was dying. Now I do respect this man and do not mean ANY disrespect, but I don’t think he knew how to help me any more. I am not as bad as a lot of you ladies I am however SCARED to death I feel like no one believes me
When I go to the Dr. here my blood pressure goes up every time because I am on the defensive immediately trying to convince someone that this mesh complications stuff is real! Gosh I get so mad! I wish I had someone to tell me what to do leave it in and hope it doesn’t get worse or get it out ASAP ? If anyone that has had this much mesh and has seen Dr. Raz I would love to talk to someone. Or anyone out there that needs someone to talk to over the phone just to hear someone’s word and to know that you ARE NOT crazy. All my love to you ladies out there, hang in there you will be ok and you are not alone. I guess you can email me and I will email you my phone number I will be glad to talk to anyone

Chastity, if he can remove it all at one time he will. I know many women he has done it, but it all depends on the damage that has been done. I am going to give you some ladies to speak to.

I had the TVT miniArcR precise put into me Dec. 2010. I had most of the mesh removed May 2011. The right anchoring pledget remains and has caused me incredible pain since that time. I wish I had a success story to share. I found this blog a few days ago and have more hope. You are not alone. You are not crazy. You are going to get better. We are not going to let you go. We are women. We are strong. We are here for each other. It is late. My husband is snoring and hoping I will go to sleep too. My sweet stepfather passed away yesterday, so if you don’t get me on the phone, just send me an email and we will make some time to listen and share and encourage one another. Blessings to you at this moment. Breathe in deep, make sure you are drinking plenty of water. Hydration keeps inflammation lower. Good night! Healing in 2014!!

Chastity I hope you will find your way to wellness and a new normal. Every comment here gives women credence to know mesh causes all these injuries and we are not alone.

What to do, where to go, when my doctors will NOT treat me for mesh erosion? I am in constant pain! (I have a lawyer). But I have yet to find a doctor in Temple, Tx willing to help me. Outside of Scott and White, most won’t take Mail Handlers and Medicare insurances. Last June I was told I had a rectovaginal tear. The day I completed PT, the therapist told me the rectovaginal tear was healed. I had about two months of pain free living but symptoms returned. A physicians assistance told me I had mesh erosion so when I see urologist and she tells me bladder sling is normal, I tell her what the PA said and even wrote me on my medical chart that I can view online. I go to print this message but it had been changed to tissue erosion when it initially said mesh erosion. I go from one doctor to another and it’s a never ending game they play with me. I’m treated like I’m too mentally ill to know what’s going on around me and the bottom line that I am being repeatedly told is: ITS JUST IBS! I’m tired so I won’t go back on the cycle of their lies. They are milking my health insurances stringing me along with false hope, lies and I need to know if anyone can trek me if there’s a doctor in Texas that is willing to help me

Sheri I wish I could give you good news about Texas as I live outside Houston, but I can’t. Your doctor is in denial because they want to continue using mesh in women. My suggestion is go to UCLA and get a proper diagnosis. Call and ask what they will take and you can see the information at the top of this blog where it says doctors. Everything you have written is typical. I think a mail carrier you must work for the post office am I right.
